Set Up Ploqo Wishlist: Hearts, Button and Wishlist Page

Turn on the hearts, add the Wishlist button to your product page and link the wishlist page in your menu. Three steps, each checked on the app's Setup page.

What you set up

Ploqo Wishlist lets shoppers save products with a heart and come back to them later on a wishlist page in your store. Setting it up takes three steps, and the app's Setup page walks you through each one:

  1. Hearts on product cards. Turn on the app's embed in your theme, so a heart shows on every product card.
  2. Wishlist button on product pages. Add the Wishlist button to your product page.
  3. Wishlist page in your menu. Add a link to the wishlist page, so shoppers can find their list.

You never edit theme code. Everything happens in the theme editor, and removing the app later leaves your theme files as they were. The video above shows all three steps; the rest of this guide is the written version. If you're still choosing a wishlist app, what to look for in a Shopify wishlist app compares the options, including building one without an app.

Open the app

Install Ploqo Wishlist from the Shopify App Store. It opens in your Shopify admin, and later you find it under Apps in the left menu. Home shows the tutorial video (the YouTube tutorial card, closed until you click it) and the Setup card under it. Each step shows its state: Off or On for the hearts, Not added or Added for the button.

A step that isn't done shows its instructions. Each one has a button that takes you to the right place, and a Show me where picture of what to click once you get there.

Step 1: Turn on the hearts

Open Hearts on product cards and click Turn on. Your theme editor opens in a new tab on App embeds. An app embed is a piece an app adds that loads on every page of your store, and this list holds them all, with Wishlist hearts already switched on.

Click Save at the top right. Until you save, the switch is only a preview. Shopify confirms with a short message at the bottom of the screen.

Go back to the app. The step now reads On. If it still says Off, click Check again at the bottom of the Setup card: the app reads your live theme each time.

The embed does more than the hearts. It also adds the floating Wishlist button, and it joins a guest's saved products to their account when they log in. Its settings are covered in Customize the icon, floating button and wording.

Step 2: Add the Wishlist button to your product page

Open Wishlist button on product pages and click Add. The theme editor opens on your product page with the Wishlist button block already placed in the product information section.

To move it, drag the block up or down in the list on the left. Most stores put it under Buy it now. Then click Save.

Back in the app, the step reads Added.

Click Add once. Each click places another copy of the block on the page. A second copy does no harm to how the store works, but it shows a second button, so delete it in the theme editor if it happens.

Your store now has a wishlist page at /apps/wishlist. Shoppers reach it from the floating button, but a menu link makes it easy to find from any page.

Open Wishlist page in your menu. Copy the link from the box with the copy icon, then click Open Menus, which opens your store's menus in a new tab.

Step 3 expanded: the /apps/wishlist link in a copy box, the Open Menus button and the I've done this buttonStep 3 expanded: the /apps/wishlist link in a copy box, the Open Menus button and the I've done this button

In Menus, open Main menu and click Add menu item. Type a label, for example "Wishlist". Paste /apps/wishlist into the link field and press Enter.

Click Save. The Wishlist item now sits in your main menu.

The app has no way to read your menus, so this step is the one you mark yourself. Go back to the app and click I've done this. The step shows "Marked done by you." with an Undo button, in case you clicked it by mistake.

Check it on your store

Open your store in a new tab and go to any collection page. Each product card has a heart in its corner. Tap one: it fills in, and the floating Wishlist button appears at the bottom right with a count of 1. Tap the floating button to open the wishlist page.

What shoppers see from here is in Wishlist hearts and the product page button and The wishlist page.

If a step won't turn green

  • The step says Off or Not added after you saved. Click Check again. If it still doesn't change, make sure you saved in the theme editor and that you edited your live theme, the one marked Current theme in Online Store > Themes. The app checks the live theme only.
  • The app can't tell. If Shopify doesn't answer, the step says the app can't tell whether it's done. It then offers a plain link to the theme editor and an I've done this button, so you can carry on.
  • Hearts don't show on a theme other than Dawn or Horizon. The hearts find product cards on Dawn, Horizon and themes built like them. For another theme, see "Hearts on another theme" in Customize the icon, floating button and wording.

Get help from the developer

Every page of the app has a Chat button at the bottom right. It opens a chat with the developer: type your question and send it. The reply shows in the same panel.
