Guest Wishlists and Lists That Follow Logged-In Customers
Guests save in their own browser. When they log in, what they saved joins the list on their customer record, which follows them to any device.

Two kinds of list
Ploqo Wishlist keeps a shopper's list in one of two places, depending on whether they are logged in to your store:
| A guest | A logged-in customer | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the list is kept | In their own browser, on that device | On their customer record in your Shopify store |
| Seen on another phone or computer | No | Yes, once they log in there |
| Counted in Most wishlisted | No | Yes |
| Shown on the customer's page in your admin | No | Yes |
A shopper never has to pick. They save the same way either way, and the app works out where the list goes.
Guests save in their own browser
A shopper who isn't logged in can save straight away, with no account and no sign-up form. Their list is stored in their browser, the way a site remembers a cart. It stays there when they come back the next day on the same device.
The app sends nothing about a guest to its servers, and it has no record of who they are. That also means a guest's list stays on that one browser: clearing the browser's data, or switching to their phone, starts a new list.
The wishlist page reminds guests of that with one line under the heading: Log in to keep your list on every device.
Logging in joins the two lists
When a guest logs in, the products they saved as a guest join the list on their customer record. Nothing is lost on either side: a product saved in both places shows once, and the guest list in the browser is then emptied, because the products now live on the account.
The collection page right after logging in: the product saved as a guest still has a filled heart
From then on, the list follows the customer. They can save on their laptop and find the same products on their phone the next time they log in there.
The joining needs the Wishlist hearts embed on (step 1 of setup). An app embed is a piece an app adds that loads on every page, and this one is what runs when the customer lands on your store after logging in.
A list holds up to 100 products. If a guest list and an account list together come to more than that, the products that don't fit are left out and the wishlist page says Your wishlist is full.
Where a logged-in list is stored
A logged-in customer's list is stored on their customer record in your Shopify store, in a field that belongs to the app. It isn't kept on our servers. Two things follow from that:
- It stays when the app goes. If you uninstall the app, the lists stay on your customers' records in Shopify. See Removing Ploqo Wishlist.
- You can look one up. Open any customer in your Shopify admin to see what they saved. See Most wishlisted products and each customer's saved list.
Two tabs saving at the same moment don't overwrite each other: the app re-reads the list before each change and retries if it changed in between.
To count Most wishlisted, the app keeps one row per saved product and customer on its own servers, with no name, email or address. The privacy policy lists exactly what is kept.
Make shoppers log in before saving
If you would rather every list lived on a customer record, turn guest saving off. In the theme editor, open App embeds, click Wishlist hearts and untick Guests can save, then click Save.
A guest who taps a heart is then taken to your store's sign-in page. After they log in, they can save.

This needs customer accounts turned on in your store (Settings > Customer accounts). With guest saving on, which is the default, customer accounts are optional: guests can save either way.
Common questions
Do I need customer accounts on? Not for guests. For lists that follow a shopper across devices, yes: a shopper can only log in if your store has customer accounts.
Can a shopper share their list? No. A list is private to the shopper who saved it.
Does the app email shoppers about their list? No. The app sends no email.
