How to Use the Depop Fee Calculator

The tool has two modes:

1. Price to payout: Enter your item price and, if you charge it, shipping. The calculator shows the processing fee and your net payout. Add your item cost to see profit and margin too.
2. Net to price: Enter the payout you want to keep, and the calculator solves for the listing price that leaves you exactly that after fees.

How Depop Fees Work in the US

In 2024 Depop changed how it charges US sellers. The old 10% seller selling fee is gone. Now the only seller cost is Depop Payments processing of 3.3% + $0.45 per transaction. That single change made Depop noticeably cheaper for sellers than it used to be.

There is a separate Buyer Protection fee that buyers pay at checkout. It is charged to the buyer, not to you, so it does not reduce your payout. This calculator models the seller side, which is the processing fee.

A Worked Example

Sell a $25 item:

• Depop Payments processing: 3.3% of $25 + $0.45 = $1.28
• Net payout: $23.72 (before your own item cost)

If you charge shipping that the buyer pays, processing applies to the total collected. Add your item cost in the tool and it also shows profit and margin, so you see the real money left after what the item cost you to make or buy.

Did Depop Really Drop the Selling Fee?

Yes. For US sellers, the 10% selling fee was removed in 2024, leaving only the 3.3% + $0.45 processing fee. The buyer-side Buyer Protection fee was introduced around the same time, which is a separate charge on the buyer. It is easy to read about "new Depop fees" and assume sellers pay more, but for the seller the net effect of the change was lower fees. Always confirm the current structure on Depop's help center, since marketplace fees move often.

Fees the Calculator Does Not Include

The tool models the seller's Depop Payments processing fee, which is the core seller cost. It does not add optional boosts or promotions, refunds, or the buyer-paid Buyer Protection fee, since that last one does not come out of your payout. If you use paid promotion, add its cost separately.

Switch to the Net to price tab, type the payout you want to keep, and the calculator solves for the listing price that leaves you exactly that after Depop's processing fee. It is the quickest way to price an item so you walk away with a specific amount, without trial and error.

Depop vs Poshmark vs Mercari

The three resale apps price sellers very differently, which is why comparing them matters. Depop now charges only processing. Poshmark takes a flat $2.95 under $15 or 20% above it. Mercari charges a flat 10% selling fee. Switch the platform dropdown to run the same item through each, and the calculator shows which one leaves you the most. For many mid-priced items, Depop's processing-only structure is the cheapest of the three.
